ChromeLS is a Chrome OS for LiteStep by YBoris (that's me!)
To look good, you should download this VS (Visual Style): [link] It is edited slightly from this: [link] to fit better with the LS (I removing an ugly 3px gray bar and moved the window title to the left)
The wallpaper that goes very well with this is [link]
For a full screen preview (of a slightly different version of this LS) [link]
Everything is easy to customize (I have made the code very neat)
yboris, kill me if you want... it is the ¿third? time i tell you, but i am keeping having the mousehook dll problem with a fresh install of LOSI on Se7en...
It keeps telling me its not a litestep dll, and it loads, but the mouseover/hook freatures dont work...
Can you find an alternative dll for your theme, or, give me yours? because i downloaded THAT dll from my old PC and it's still not working...
I wonder how i made work it out on the XP machine...
Anyway, it looks great and i am using it on my old PC, waiting to see if i can us e it on my other machine
Thanks Unfortunately I don't know what the problem is with Windows 7, perhaps there are issues that can't be fixed without some update to the .dll (which should be done by the author of the .dll) - but I am hypothesizing. I haven't used any alternative .dll - and I don't know how it happens to work on my XP machine - it just does from the start. I haven't tried other XP machines, but it seems to work for many other users. Perhaps it just works with XP by default.
Normally the code would be in the theme.rc but I compartmentalized all the code into files inside the "config" folder. Open up the "themevars.rc" and type in "false" after "currenttrack". I've set it up so that people don't have to mess with the code (otherwise it's in the "theme.rc" file)
Let me know if that helps or if I've misunderstood your question.
I just for the first time installed Litestep and it seems to work fine, however your theme which seems to be installed correctly does not appear after !Refresh or restart. Could be because I'm using Windows 7 RC, build 7100.
I am not sure - have you tried other themes? Do other themes work? Perhaps what is needed is the new version of jdesk. Go to modules.rc (in the config folder) and change the number in the NetLoadModule to jdesk-0.74 - LiteStep should automatically download the new version which might work. Perhaps - I am only hoping and guessing.
Excellent idea! Thanks - I didn't know I could do that! Though on my PC it shouldn't have the "." here:
NowAutoWidthMode center
Also the NowX could be set to "c" I think - so it's in the center, and perhaps we should add:
NowAutoMinWidth 180
So that the volume control doesn't go beyond the frame. But then I would want to disable the text for the time that the volume control is up ... ehh - I'll quit here
What you see in the preview picture above are 2 popups - one that occurs when you click on the "Home" button and the other when you right-click on the desktop. You don't get to see then when right-clicking in a folder. I don't think visual styles give you enough flexibility. Though you might be able to tinker with it (will take at least an hour) to get it to look kind-of OK. I don't know if it's worth the hassle. Also I'm not sure I answered your question

i just have one question...
i'm not really unto the "always on top" feature, and i'd like to remove that option for the bar at the bottom....
can you please tell me what code should i edit to remove that "always on top" feature for bar and the slider? thanks!
sowee im such a noobie.
Let me know if that helps or if I've misunderstood your question.
Here's how I did in case someone would be interested by it:
*label Now
NowX "-$100$c"
NowY -20
NowAutoWidthMode .center
NowHeight 20
NowImage now.png
NowImageLeftEdge 11
NowImageRightEdge 11
NowAlwaysOnTop True
NowAlphaMap
NowTopBorder 4
NowLeftBorder 15
NowRightBorder 15
NowFontLeftBorder 10
NowFontRightBorder 10
NowFontColor 62a2f0
NowFontHeight 12
NowFontAlign "center"
NowText "[if(winampPlaying)][winampArtist] - [before(winampTitle,' ('
NowAutoWidthMode center
Also the NowX could be set to "c" I think - so it's in the center, and perhaps we should add:
NowAutoMinWidth 180

Thanks again
I now realize I had chromex
but I feel something is wrong with the start menu..
Also..are these context menus (as shown)possible in a VS? I mean the spacing and the colors
