This LiteStep theme contains all the modules within it.
I added an always-on-top mini-corner (top left) which can be clicked even when a window is open covering the desktop. No need to minimize everything to open the PopUp menu! :-D Left-click on it to see today's date!
There is a middle-mouse-button-click menu in addition to the regular right-mouse-button-click.
There is a button where "Start" usually is: right-click to minimize all windows, left-click for another custom menu.
On mouse-over above time display you get a mouse-scroll-wheel-scrollable list of tray icons.
How unusual. I'm guessing you tried - but have other themes (which you have to extract from a .zip as a folder) worked? If my theme is the only one giving you trouble - then I'm not sure what is happening. The way I made my theme is by editing (with permission to distribute) the original "Elfin2" Litestep theme (which is great - but was lacking features I wanted). If my theme doesn't work - Elfin2 [link] probably won't work either - and it seems to be a professionally made theme
yboris - this is my first attempt with litestep to install a theme and i can't get the download to recognize i think because it is a .rar versus a .zip or .lsz Do I need to find a way to convert it or just keep digging till I find a way to install a theme with an .rar. Sorry for the newbieness
No problem - glad you ask - glad to help out. All you need to do is unzip the .rar into the directory where all your themes are (so you'll have a folder). Then you'll just need to press "update theme list" (or whatever it says) under litestep menu where you select the theme you want to use. That's all
I really like the theme you have posted on Lifehacker. What's the code to format your clock and date? I tried to take it from your theme.rc file but it was different. I don't know.
Are you referring to the large clock on the top-left (that is not shown in the above screenshot)? If so you'll need to install Rainmeter and download my "10 Foot HUD YBoris edit" (on DeviantArt - click on my gallery).
Theme.rc will have all the configuration for the LiteStep theme (which does not include the large clock pasted on the desktop).
Rainmeter uses up a lot of memory just for a clock. I'm a beginner with litestep though I've used it when it was in it's infancy. I was using emerge desktop until the switch back to litestep.
I've written a little code for the theme.rc file to make a very similar clock on the desktop without using all the memory. I'm not good with formatting the words but it's almost identical. Let me know if you want the code.
This looks really cool! I found your theme via Lifehacker and want to give a run...but I've never used Litestep and although I've been fighting to get this installed all night, I've had no luck...
If you could point me to a Web site that will "hold my hand" or give me a few pointers, that would be very helpful! While I'm usually pretty good with new programs, computers, etc - this is a whole new area!
Glad you are not giving up so fast. I tried two installers and one of them worked for me. I believe this is the one that did - except this is a newer (2009) version - so it should work:
I hope you are aware that Litestep disables the taskbar (and the start button) - that is disables "explorer.exe"; I think it requires a restart to take effect.
This might give you a scare at first - but all should be well - and it's always reversible.

Let me know if you still have trouble

Sorry if I've misunderstood your question.
